Anambra Guber;INEC should disqualify APGA candidate,Obiano over multiple Voters registration

Investigations have revealed that Willie Obiano, the APGA Candidate for November 16th governorship election had registered for election in Lagos state prior to his present governorship aspiration. When he was drafted into the governorship contest, by Peter Obi, Mr Obiano relocated to Anambra State and subsequently registered again at his Home Town of Aguleri in

Anambra East LGA during the just concluded re-validation and continue registration of Voters exercise in Anambra state for the Purpose of November 16th Governorship election.

Obiano thereby is registered twice for the election. This is against the letters and spirit of Section 12(2) of the Electoral Act 2010(As Amended) which states:      "A Person shall not register in more than one registration centre or register more than once in the same registration centre."

Section 12(3): "A person who contravenes the provision of subsection(2) of this section commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding N100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or both".

One expects that Willie Obiano, having registered in Lagos State  should not register again in Anambra  State in line with the Electoral Act 2010(As Amended).

Obiano should have applied to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Anambra State for his name to be entered on the transferred voter's list for his constituency inline with Section 13(1) of our Electoral Act 2010 (As Amended):

"A person who before the election is resident in a constituency other than the one in which he was registered may apply to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the State where he is currently resident for his name to be entered on the transferred voters, list for the constituency".

Based on the above legal provisions, Willie Obiano the APGA candidate stands Disqualified by virtue of Multiple Registration.

Meanwhile reports from Government House, Awka say Governor Obi and some other APGA inner Caucus are battling to save the situation through Prof Onukogu of INEC for the Commission to compromise by either deleting that of the Lagos or do everything possible to legalize Willie Obiano and save the situation for them.

We therefore call on INEC, Press, family, Police and other security agency to be at alert.

ASUU strike»WE'RE READY FOR NO WORK,NO PAY

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) has declared that the union is fully prepared for the no
work no pay threat by the Federal Government, insiting that it was more determined than ever to salvage the country’s educational sector.

The chairman of the union, Kogi State University branch, Dr Sylvester Akwuteno, who said this maintained that there was no going back on the strike as the union had decided to toe the path of Ghanaian lecturers, who were on strike for two years before their demands were met.

Speaking during the solidarity protest held within the campus, Akwuteno noted that “until there is a revitalisation of the universities, ASUU will not call off the strike. We are poor people living in a very rich country. We are not satisfied with the way our students learn under poor environment.”

He insisted that the body will not call off the strike until the Federal Government honoured the 2009 agreement towards revitalising the universities.

According to him, “ASUU is out to liberate education in the country. The Federal Government must honour the 2009 agreement as contained in the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding. They (FG) must know that agreement is a covenant.”

He condemned the statement credited to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) which blamed ASUU for the strike.

He said they spoke out of ignorance.

Ngige will stop “godfatherism”in Anambra state » APC leaders

Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bisi Akande; as well as Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, yesterday, in Onitsha, Anambra State separately spoke on the need for the people of the state to vote for Senator Chris Ngige during the November 16, 2014 election.

The flag off of the APC governorship candidate at the centenary stadium, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Onitsha attracted a large number of APC supporters from all the 326 wards in the state, who ceaselessly waved their brooms and danced round the magnificent arena.

Tinubu told the people that APC has brought to Anambra a revolution that is going on in the country, reminding them that the revolution cannot be achieved without their full participation.

According to him, APC treats headache and even rheumatism to get everybody well and on their feet to contribute to the development of the nation, adding that a nation where universities have remained shut for several months was an indication that the government had failed the people and should therefore be changed.

He said that the Anambra election is a test case for Nigerians to begin the expected revolution and urged them to vote for Ngige, who he described as an agent of change.

Governor Oshiomole described Ngige as a good product that does not need to be spent money on to be advertised. He said: "Ngige is a man who is tested and trusted and with the challenges facing Anambra State, there is no need to bring in a trainee to start learning on the job.

"Ngige is trained to save people's lives and not to make money to line his pockets and that was what he did before and he will do it again."

Oshiomole recalled how, as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, he led several protests to Anambra State when PDP was in power in the state because the then governor failed to pay workers, adding that all that changed when Ngige assumed office and paid every worker regularly.

Governor Fayemi said the victory of Ngige is important for APC, adding that all the 11 governors of APC are determined to ensure that Ngige emerge victorious in next month's election.

In his speech, Governor Okorocha said the main reason they were supporting Ngige is because he fought and ended godfatherism in Anambra State and warned the people not to allow godfathers have their way again.

He also stated that Nigerians were yearning for change from the politics of Baba has said or Abuja has said, adding that Ngige will be a man of his own as his only interest will be to work for the welfare of the people.

Commending the people for turning out in large numbers, Ngige urged them to follow who they know, assuring them that he would reenact the Ngige quality in roads, security and other areas, if they vote for him.

See 8 Reasons Why Men Cheat

There are reasons galore why men pull wool over the eyes of their wives. Oftentimes, it's out of spite and neglect, while the other times, it's because they feel they will never be caught.

What makes men cheat? Dr Kamal Khurana, relationship counselor, dug through past research on male infidelity, and has even counseled couples and has arrived at the conclusion that most answers are from the wife's point of view. Here, some of his findings:

1. Disturbance in the marriage as the primary reason: When there are regular fights at home with his wife, which are left unresolved, a pattern sets in wherein he continues to be unhappy and 'disturbed'. In this kind of a scenario, either he can fight or he can flee. When he looks for an affair, he is looking to flee from dealing with the issues in the marriage, and be comfortable with that 'other person'. It is telling oneself that the problems do not affect anyone and life can continue in a better way with a parallel support.

2. Cheating men report boredom led to the affair: Some men may find the routine of a married life to be tedious and dull. These men find it easier to shift dominance or primacy to another relationship and feel the spark outside to be a thrilling option; instead of finding ways of charging their marriage. It becomes present moment for gratification versus the hard job that they will have to do in their marriage to resolve an issue. The extra-marital relationship provides them with a readymade and fresh experience, which is appealing enough to take the risk.

3. Cheating men love to experiment sexually: Sex has always been and will always be an integral part of a marriage. While some men are quite content spending the rest of their lives having sex with the same wife for many years, others prefer to experiment more as a need, rather than as an option. They want to sleep with many women, many times, and therefore do not think twice before an extra-marital alliance. It perhaps makes them feel sexually powerful and more adept than others.

4. Cheating men are emotionally dissatisfied: When their wives are too busy with their own lives, working or bringing up children or even looking after in-laws and parents, emotionally, men are left high and dry. But men are emotionally driven beings too. They want their wives to show them that they're appreciated, and they want women to understand how hard they're trying to get things right. Most men consider it unmanly to ask for a pat on the back, which is why their emotional needs are often overlooked. Sometimes the couple may not be compatible so however much the wife may do, the man will always find something to complain about. It may also happen that the woman he cheats with is his co-worker or boss, someone who praises him, looks up to him, and compliments his efforts. That's another reason why it's so critical that he feel valued at home.

5. Cheating men have a history of EMR: Some men, in their childhood, may have witnessed cheating in their parent's marriage. This somewhere gives them a message that it is okay to cheat, even though deep inside they know this is wrong. All of us learn from our parents, so taking the risk is good enough. This acquired learning also happens through cheating resorts taken by elder siblings, neighbours, peer group and everybody who has been impacted. Sometimes as teenagers and young adults, some men have had multiple relationships, these men either intentionally or accidentally end up going back to their ex-girlfriends. The other lot goes back to their past style of having multiple relationships. It is well said, what a mind thinks, achieves. So there are females also who are either consciously or unconsciously looking for such men.

6. Cheating men have wives who cheat: Men also take revenge with their cheating wives, by having multiple relationships themselves. Even if their wives are guilty and come accept their extra-marital relationships, some men continue with their tricks. This is mostly done by men who don't want to forgive their spouses.

7. Cheating men think it to be 'divorce': Some men are willfully adulterous and use it as a means for acquiring divorce. The law also considers adultery as a fair ground for the wife to seek a divorce. The man is cheating openly and is in a non-receptive mood, taking the wife's feelings of frustration to an all-time high. Although this percentage is less but it is there.

8. Cheating men need to be needed: When men feel that they are not needed by their wife anymore, they look out for some other woman, who can understand them and make them feel special. As an obvious outcome of a new relationship, they get that feeling from the other woman. And suddenly when they are showered with attention, which they haven't received in a very long time in their marriage, they toss their hands in the air and get deep into the new hot and happening relationship.

“No work no pay”can it solve the ASUU problem?

The Federal government revealed on Friday why it implemented the 'no work-no pay' policy against the striking university lecturers.

Speaking in defence of the Federal government directive, the NUC, spokesman said the commission was only applying extant laws.

Also speaking on the matter, the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations of the NUC, Ibrahim Yakasai, said the directive was not a policy but a law that affects all sectors of the economy, adding that it had been in the constitution for a long time.

"It's a law in this country that if you don't work you will not get paid. But the government was magnanimous enough to pay their salaries for a month or two when they started the strike. After everything that has been done, (the lecturers) don't want to go back to work; so, the law must be applied.

"Let's watch and see how far they can go with this strike. In any case, why would anyone want to pay someone that is not working? Should they even have accepted the salaries in the first instance? In fact, what are salaries for? It's for work to be done," he said.

When contacted, the acting Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, refused commenting on how such policy would help in resolving the lingering strike but
rather referred journalist to NUC

ASUU BEING FORCED TO END STRIKE

Lagos-based legal practitioner, Daniel Onwe, has
dragged the Federal Government and the
Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,
before a Federal High Court in Lagos, southern
Nigeria, over the lingering crisis between the
two bodies which has led to the closure of public universities in the country since 1 July. In a motion dated 30 September, 2013, Barrister
Onwe is seeking an order of court to compel
ASUU to call off the strike it embarked upon in
protest over the unwillingness of government to
implement certain aspects of the agreement they
reached over the parlous state of Nigerian universities and other issues. In a 15-paragraph affidavit filed along with the
motion, Onwe is asking the court to declare that
the indefinite strike embarked upon by ASUU,
leading to the closure of government owned
universities for three months, violates the
fundamental rights of the students affected. He argued that the continued strike action by
ASUU has traumatized many students who now
engage in all sorts of vices. Onwe posited that the plight of the affected
students has worsened as their contemporaries
in private universities continue to attend lectures
while they remain idle at home. He urged the court to compel ASUU to open the
universities for lectures to resume while their
negotiation with the Federal Government
continues. No date has been fixed for hearing of the suit.

ASUP PRESIDENT SAYS “NO GOING BACK ON STRIKE”

The President of the Academic
Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP),
Mr. Chibuzor Asomugha on
Wednesday confirmed the union’s
resolve to embark on a strike two
months after suspending one. The decision to embark on the strike by Friday 4 thOctober, according to Asomugha, was reached at the 75th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of
the union. He threatened that the union will
go on strike due to the fact that
“government has not done
anything to address the issues”
two months after suspending the
strike. He said the union gave the federal
government a two-month grace
to enable them negotiate and
settle the issues at hand but noted
that “none of these issues have
been wholesomely addressed”. Speaking on Channels Television’s
breakfast flagship programme,
Sunrise Daily, Asomugha further
said that “nothing has been done”
to address the issues at hand. He noted that the federal
government hasn’t fulfilled its
bargain in the 2009 FG/ASUP
agreement, that was supposed
tobe re-negotiated in 2012 adding
that the review of the Federal Polytechnic Act, which was last
done in 2004, should have been
carried out to ensure efficient
running of polytechnics in Nigeria. Asomugha also faulted the federal
government’s decision not to
constitute governing councils for
6 federal polytechnics adding that
the release of the white paper on
the visitation to the polytechnics also forms part of their
grievances. The union had earlier released a
statement notifying the federal
government of its decision to
close down institutions by the
end of the week if government
does not honour the agreements reached. The statement added that union
will not renege on the planned
strike except these issues are
addressed by the government and
called on the National Assembly to
expedite action on the review of the Polytechnic Act. It also noted the anti-labour stance
of the National Assembly as
