ex president of Asuu, professor
Iyayi might prolong the lingering
ASUU strike.
As we already know, the former
President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof.
Festus Iyayi, died on Tuesday
morning (12th November, 2013)
in a car crash on Lokoja-Abuja
Expressway. According to the report, Prof.
Iyayi was returning from a
meeting in one of the Northern
ASUU chapters when the ugly
accident occurred that claim his
life instantly. He was in company with some
ASUU leaders and they were said
to be returning from Kano where
they sought the views of
members on ending the four-
month-old ASUU strike. The current report reaching us is
that his death has led to the
postponement of ASUU‘s
executive meeting, which was
slated to hold today, Wednesday
(13th November, 2013) to decide whether they should call of their
four-month old strike or not.
More details to come… Nigerian Universities will not be
re-opening again until the NEC
meeting holds, as at the time of
writing this report, new date of
the next NEC meeting has not
been fix. So,
continue till further notice….
